    Betty Lou Wubbena

    August 17, 1939 - January 16, 2015

    Betty Lou (Bruns) Wubbena, 75, of Bristow, Iowa, passed away, Friday, January 16, 2015, at her home. She was born August 17, 1939, in rural Ackley, Iowa, to Wilhem and Bernice (Card) Bruns. Betty graduated from Dumont High School in Dumont, Iowa. She was united in marriage to James Wubbena on August 17, 1958, at the Washington Reformed Church in rural Ackley. Betty was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church - Vilmar in rural Greene, Iowa, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and involved with women's circle and quilting projects. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and was previously a 4-H leader. Some of Betty's hobbies were flower gardening, sewing and baking. She and her husband, Jim, owned and operated the Wubbena Produce in Bristow for over 40 years. She retired from CUNA in Waverly after working there 14 years. She is survived by her husband James Wubbena of Bristow, daughter Tammy (Don) Fleshner of Parkersburg, daughter Susan (Jon) Jones of Tumwater, Washington, daughter Brenda (Guy) Boden of Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter Nicole (Ryan) Folkerts of Reinbeck, grandchildren Chris (Holly) Fleshner of Reinbeck, Ryan (Kristen) Fleshner of Allison, Ben (Angie) Cutler of Madison, Wisconsin, Brandon Cutler of Otterbein, Indiana, John (Amanda) Hoodjer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brittany (Aaron) Klingenberg of Cocoa, Florida, Beau Hoodjer of West Des Moines, Andrew Jones of Seattle, Washington, Brooke Boden of Waverly, NE, Stephen Jones of Tumwater, Washington, Derek Hoodjer of Ames, Samantha Jones of Tumwater, Washington, Sophia Folkerts of Reinbeck, Elyse Folkerts of Reinbeck and Julia Folkerts of Reinbeck, great-grandchildren Emma and Cole Fleshner of Reinbeck, Lauren, Linde and Lydia Fleshner of Allison sister Margorie (Darwin) Freese of Allison, sister Minetta Jones of Waverly, brother Edward (Randi) Bruns of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, brother Richard Bruns and sister Dorothy Seaton. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
