Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through his servant Charlene. Charlene Mae Colangelo was born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 25, 1957, to parents Ervin George and Charlotte Mae (Bozarth) Elson. She was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on December 12, 1958. On June 1, 1972, she was confirmed in the Christian faith and was fed the life-giving body and blood of Jesus. She was united in holy marriage to Carl Colangelo on July 31, 2004 and blessed with 17 years of married life together. On January 11, 2022, God called Charlene home to heaven. Charlene worked as a Lutheran educator for 42 years, most recently teaching kindergarten through second grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Latimer, Iowa. She earned her teaching degree from Trenton State and taught in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut for a time before moving to Iowa. Her time in the classroom allowed her the opportunity to touch the lives of hundreds of children over the years. She is survived by her husband Carl Colangelo, sister, Robin (Mark) Arnold, brother, David Elson, nephews, Christopher and Jonathan Arnold, niece, Valerie (Ryan) Loeslie and their children Cara, Vera, Asher and Thomas, cousin, Linda Rodriguez, and many more cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her aunts, Angie and Isabel Colangelo. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister Charlene. Memorial contributions can be made in the form of a donation to St. Paul’s Lutheran School. P.O. Box 609 Latimer, Iowa 50452.
