Dennis C. Kelly, 87, of Dows, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 9, 2022, at home with loved ones by his side. There will be no funeral service, as this was his desire. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for Dennis and his family. Condolences can be sent to Verdell Kelly - PO Box 225, Dows, Iowa 50071. Dennis was born to Leonard and Bernice (Jacques) Kelly on December 21, 1934, at home northeast of Popejoy. He attended high school in Popejoy, and was the pitcher for the Popejoy Pirates for 4 years. After farming, he operated a lawn mowing business until he retired. God and family came first for Dennis and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing and church activities. He served as an elder at Abundant Life Chapel in Dows for several years. Dennis was very generous and very loving. He was loved by many and he loved many. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marlyn; sister, Beverly; one nephew; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. Dennis is survived by his wife, Verdell Kelly of Dows; children, Marty (Jo) Kelly of Ames and Cindy (John) Mandal of Dows; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Darland, Jeremy (Christa) Nichols, Devin (Lisa) Kelly, Shane (Chelsea) Kelly; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Haley Darland, Lexi and Clay Nichols, Luke Clark, Tristan Kelly, Charlotte, Felix and Willow Kelly; sister, Pat Ubben; and many nieces and nephews.
