Diane F. Bennett

Diane F. Bennett, 68, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born on July 24, 1947, in McPherson, Kansas, to Walter and Doris (Austin) Johnson. The Johnsons relocated to Iowa during Diane's childhood and Diane graduated from Woodward-Granger High School. She was united in marriage to Gary Bennett on October 10, 1965, in Madrid, Iowa. She relished her role as mother and homemaker and later attended classes at North Iowa Area Community College while working for CAL Community Schools for twenty-five years. Diane was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter and was currently active with the Red Hat Society. She had served in many civic, school and church related roles and boards. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, baking, cooking, music, and spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren. Diane is survived by her husband Gary Bennett of Latimer, son Kelly (Lisa) Bennett of Ankeny, son Eric (Peggy) Bennett of Lake Oswego, Oregon, daughter Karianne (Scott) Lundgren of Altoona, grandchildren Alexandrea Bennett, Drake Bennett, Garrison Lundgren, Aiden Bennett, Braden Lundgren and Anslee Bennett, sister Janet Kirchner of Kansas City, Missouri, brother Douglas (Donna) Johnson of Woodward, sister Eileen (Jerry) Clausen of Ankeny, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Doris. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Diane Bennett family for allocation to her favorite cause.
