Doris Rae Tegland

Doris Rae Nelsen LaRoque Tegland, 92, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. She was born on September 11, 1920, in Hampton, Iowa, to Julian and Blanche (Hansen) Nelsen. Doris graduated from Hampton High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Floyd LaRoque on April 18, 1942, in Hampton, Iowa; he preceded her in death. Doris then married to Les Tegland; he also preceded her in death. She was a school teacher in a one room country school house. Doris was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton, Iowa, and was part of the women's association and sewing circle. She enjoyed playing piano, dancing, golfing, sewing, quilting, playing cards and working on puzzles. Doris also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She loved spending time with her family. Doris is survived by her son Dennis (Pam) LaRoque of Davenport, daughter Marilyn (Bill) Armentrout of Postville, grandchildren Laura (Mark) Doty, Jason (Margo) LaRoque, David (Monica) LaRoque, Lisa (Greg) Hill, Robert LaRoque, Alison (Brian) Marovets, Sarah (Jamison) Holthaus, Matthew (Renae) Armentrout and Laura (Josh) Larson, twenty-one great-grandchildren, brother Walter (Tillie) Nelsen of Hampton, daughter-in-law Penny Martishius, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Blanche, husbands Floyd LaRoque and Les Tegland and son John LaRoque. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
