Dorothy M. Siebrands

Dorothy M. Siebrands, 73, of Dumont, Iowa passed away April 25, 2013, at her home. She was born January 13, 1940, to George and Olive (Palmer) Yeoman. Dorothy graduated from Corwith High School in Corwith, Iowa. She was united in marriage on December 17, 1960, in Corwith, Iowa to Jim Siebrands. Jim and Dorothy farmed for many years in rural Dumont, and Dorothy would often be seen driving the tractor or running the combine. Dorothy was a member of the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont, Iowa. She worked for over 30 years at the Dumont Care Center as an aide, cook, housekeeper, and in laundry. Dorothy was an excellent cook. Many people have enjoyed her meals, cookies, and pies. Her 4 grandsons were the light of her life, and she attended many of their school and sporting events and would almost always bring them a bucket of their favorite cookies. Dorothy was a hard worker - very dedicated in everything she did. She is survived by her husband Jim Siebrands of Dumont, daughter Kimberly (Jeff) Marchant of Indianola, daughter Kathy (Jason) Schipper of Leighton, grandsons Blake and Austin Marchant of Indianola, Joseph and Adam Schipper of Leighton, sister Gladys Mitchell of Corwith, brother Dale Yeoman of Corwith, and mother-in-law Lela Siebrands of Dumont. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Pauline Widen, brother-in-law Ben Widen, brother-in-law Robert Mitchell, sister-in-law Mary Lou Yeoman, and nephew John Widen. Burial will take place at the Dumont Cemetery, Dumont, Iowa
