Elaine Joy Meyer

Elaine Joy Meyer, 66, of Hampton, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at her home in Hampton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2022, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home, 306 Central Ave East, Hampton, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Elaine’s request was for those in attendance to please dress in casual attire. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Elaine and her family. Elaine was born on November 18, 1955, in Hampton, to Edmund and Arlene (Waddell) Meyer. She graduated from Hampton High School. Elaine worked at the Hampton Chronicle from 1992-2020. She started in insertion, moved to custom printing and then circulation. Elaine made many friends while working for the newspaper, especially Deb Hanson, who she greatly missed. She enjoyed listening to music and reading, and loved living on the farm, which she missed so much. Elaine is survived by her sister Lynette (Jay) Gartman of Waukee; brother-in-law Terry Bents of Hampton; niece Amy (David) Perez of Hampton; nephew Kevin (Kelli) Gartman, with great niece or nephew on the way, of Montezuma; great-nephew James Perez of Sheffield; and great-niece Nataley Perez of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Marilyn Bents.
