Forrest Kay Yaw

May 22, 1936 - March 23, 2012

Forrest Kay Yaw, 75, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away on March 23, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa. He was born on May 22, 1936 in Hampton, the son of Forrest Klemme and Velma Irene (Jones) Yaw. Forrest graduated from Hampton High School with the class of 1954. On September 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Kathryn A. Price at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Kathryn died on March 27, 2009. Forrest farmed for many years in the Hampton area. Once his health started to deteriorate, he started trucking and working in sales. Forrest was a long time member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Hampton where he was an Elder and held many other leadership positions. He was also a member of the Hampton Lion's Club. Forrest enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping, helping his children with 4H, woodworking for Camp Courageous through the Lion's Club and coffee at Hardees. For the last two years, he enjoyed socializing with people at the Senior Living Community in Hampton. Forrest is survived by four children, Les (Mickie) Yaw of Mason City, Iowa, Mary Yaw of Alexandria, Minnesota, Barb (Denny) Grabenbauer of Marshalltown, Iowa and Howard (Gayla) Yaw of Hampton, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a special friend, Jennie Dellinger of Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Anna Mae Yaw, a son, Rodney Lee Yaw and a grandson, Christopher Westendorf. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
