    Gerald Schinagel

    August 5, 1921 - November 25, 2011

    Gerald Schinagel Gerald Schinagel, 90, of Cottonwood, AZ, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 in his home. Burial will be at a later date in the Hampton Cemetery. Gerald was born August 5, 1921 at Chapin, IA to George and Clara Schinagel. On February 6, 1944 he married Dagmar Johansen at the Methodist parsonage in Hampton. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage and two children, Beverly and Larry. Gerald graduated from high school at Chapin, IA. He farmed for 25 years in the Hampton and Chapin area. In 1969 Gerald and Dagmar moved to Pagosa Springs, CO where Gerald worked at heavy construction. In 1992 they built a home in Cottonwood, AZ. Gerald loved to hunt and fish. He was an Arizona senior champion at horseshoe pitching. He also enjoyed watching pro basketball and cheering for the Phoenix Suns. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Darrell) Stratmann of Hampton and their children: Angela (Chris) Petersen and their son, Trevor of Goldfield and Darcy (Richard) Tidd of Monument, CO. His son, Larry Schinagel of Sedona, AZ and his daughter, Tracy Schinagel of Sedona, AZ. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Dagmar, his parents, George and Clara Schinagel, and a brother and sister-in-law, Dwain and Maude Schinagel.
