    Herman Kruse

    May 9, 1933 - August 23, 2013

    Herman Kruse, 80, of Allison, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison in Allison, Iowa. He was born on May 9, 1933, on a farm in rural Bristow, Iowa, to Fred and Cena (Werkmann) Kruse. Herman attended Brushy Mound Country School in rural Bristow. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict Era and peacetime; he was able to attend the Honor Flight on April 16, 2013, with his daughter Kathy. Herman was married to Faith Tjebkes on December 5, 1958, they were later divorced. On May 23, 1981, he was united in marriage to Sharon Christopherson. He worked for Rath Packers Company, John Deere as a machinist, Oliver/White Farm, Hobson Brothers in Shell Rock and Bell Helicopter in Grand Prairie, Texas, until he retired in 1995. Herman was a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and the Allison American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, snowmobiling, small engine repair and playing softball, where he pitched for twenty-eight years. Herman is survived by his wife Sharon of Allison, daughter Rae Jean (Rick) Smith of Bellevue, Nebraska, son Dale Kruse of Stacyville, daughter Kathy (Roger) Lund of Waverly, son Mike (Becky) Kruse of Dunkerton, son Darren Kruse of Orchard, step-son Duane (Patti) Christopherson of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, step-daughter Diane (Jon) Oltmann of Allison, fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother Eldo Kruse, brother Harold (Marlys) Kruse, sister Ida Mae (Richard) Litterer, sister-in-law Donna Kruse, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Cena, brothers Emil, Elmer and William, sister Anna Reed and sister-in-law Rena Kruse. Burial will take place in the Allison Cemetery.
