Joan Lydia Miller, 74, of Allison, Iowa, passed away on April 15, 2012, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison in Allison. She was born in Allison on April 1, 1938, the daughter of John and Lydia (Heyenga) Henning. Joan graduated from Greene High School. On June 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Wayne Miller. Joan worked as a substance abuse counselor for many years and also owned a flower shop in Allison. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Allison and was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. Joan was famous for her baking and enjoyed writing poems, knitting, crocheting, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Wayne, of Allison, four children, Marty Miller of Allison, Jeffrey Miller of Mason City, Danny Miller of Allison and Wendy Jo (Daniel) Dralle of Allison, eighteen grandchildren, Jeremiah (Joannie) Miller, Heather (Robert) Putney, Jeff E. Miller, Shane (Alicia) Miller, Brandi Miller, Melissa Miller, Ashley Head, Jesse Miller, Kane Miller, Travis Miller, Kory Miller, Dani Miller, Michael (Kayla) Stirling, Trent (Jordan) Stirling, Brett Stirling, Jermey (Jenny) Dralle, Chad Dralle and Deedra Dralle, several great grandchildren, two sisters, Marlys (Don) Stoffregan of Cedar Falls and Jeanette (Bill) Boyd of Marble Rock, and a brother, Johnny (Sue) Henning of Wyoming. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Henning. Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery.
