LaVonne Kriesel

LaVonne E. Kriesel, 93, of Hampton, IA died on May 11th, 2012 at the Sudley Manor House in Manassas, VA. She was born in June 5th, 1918 to the late Otto von Gemmingen and Ella Burmester. On June 21st, 1939, in Hampton, IA, she married Herbert C. Kriesel, who preceded her in death on April 17th, 2011. She was a homemaker all of her life plus she worked at Garfinkel's Dept. Store and the Secretary's Office of the U.S. Dept of Agriculture in Washington. Her homes included Alexandria and Manassas, VA; Lagos, Nigeria; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Nairobi, Kenya, and Seoul, Korea. In 1980, LaVonne and Herbert retired to Okemos, MI. She was a very active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, in Haslett, MI. Survivors include four children, Jean Harrover and her husband R. Curtis Harrover of Manassas, VA; Carole Poling of Cocoa Beach, FL; Gretchen Stoll and her husband William of Victorville, CA; Warren Kriesel and his wife Sheila of Athens, GA; and grandchildren Andrew Harrover, Bryan Harrover, Carole Potts, Courtney Weed, Eric Stoll, and Frederick, Craig and Maria Kriesel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Herb; her sister Lois Jean Roberts; one grandson Billy Stoll; and son-in-law Robert D. Poling.
