    Lee R. Heins

    May 28, 1936 - September 28, 2010

    Lee R. Heins, 74, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away September 28, 2010, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. He was born May 28, 1936, in Hampton, Iowa, to Ernest and Louise (Kruse) Heins. Lee graduated from the Hampton High School and attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City for two years. He served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Lee was a farmer and a bookkeeper. He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton. Lee was also a member of the FFA, Hampton Lions Club, American Legion, Amvets and the DAV. He enjoyed watching football, playing checkers and talking with people at the Rehabilitation Center. Lee is survived by his brother Paul Heins of Ames, sister-in-law Martha Heins of Hampton, sister-in-law Brenda Heins of Gastonia, North Carolina, nieces Barbara (Frank) Meiners of Ames, Lori (Steve) McDonald of Nevada, Cynthia (Henry) Heins-Dewey of Tijeras, New Mexico, Sharon (Mike) Miller of Cumming, Georgia, Kelly (Robert) Andrews of Gastonia, North Carolina, nephew Paul S. (Sonia) Heins of Ames, along with numerous cousins and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Louise and two brothers Henry and Donald Heins. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Iowa Veterans Home. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
