Lori Ann Heyden

October 19, 1956 - December 22, 2013

Lori Ann Heyden, 57, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Sunday December 22, 2013, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born to Clifford and Thelma Molencamp Thomas October 19, 1956, in Estherville, Iowa. Lori grew up in Sheffield, Iowa and graduated from Sheffield Chapin High School in 1975. She was united in marriage to David Heyden on November 1, 1975, in Manly, Iowa and moved to southern California where they lived for four years. In 1978 she became the proud mother of daughter Dawnica. In 1979 the family moved back to Iowa and were delighted with the birth of daughter Devon. In Spencer Lori was a daycare provider and active in the Spencer Jaycees where she held a number of offices. In 1981 the family was presented the miracle of daughter Megan. Lori and her family moved to Hampton in 1985. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton. Lori was an active member of Friends of Beeds Lake and took a special joy in seeing the park debri free after the spring cleanups. Lori was most happy having family and friends close by and especially enjoyed family vacations. She took great pride and joy in providing daycare and truly believed her kids would make a better world. Lori loved small, simple, and natural. She enjoyed canoeing, camping, hiking, bird watching, painting, reading, and especially watching her grandchildren's activities. She is survived by her husband David of Hampton, daughter Dawnica (Joe) King of Ankeny, daughter Devon (Josh) Schiff of Le Mars, daughter Megan (Shane) Donaldson of Hampton, grandchildren Antonio and Ashley Hernandez, Karlee Schiff and Kiara and Connor Donaldson, brother Ronald Thomas of West Hollywood, California, sister Carol (Don) Nelson of Waupaca, Wisconsin, sister Shari (Greg) Hampton of Clear Lake and many dearly loved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and step father Russ Ziesman. Burial will take place at a later date at the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Hampton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the family for future disbursement.
