Mae C. Murphy, 94, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away July 9, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. She was born April 1, 1917, in Wellsburg, Iowa, to Fred and Elmda (Muller) Miller. Mae attended Wellsburg Schools. She married Virgil Murphy on June 24, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa. Mae was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton, Iowa. All who met Mae, soon knew of her basketball history and the love of Hampton sports. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Frankfurt of Monticello, daughter Ginny Randall of Mt. Vernon, son Mike (Jacquie) of Newton, son Ron (Sandy) of Hampton, twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, brother Warren Miller of Grinnell, special niece Rita Oehlert and several nieces and nephews. Mae was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, two son-in-laws Dean Frankfurt and Dave Randall and one grandson Kelly Frankfurt, three sisters Francis, Helen, Julia, two brothers Heike and Fred. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hampton Senior Citizens Center or the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton.
