    Mari D. Conklin

    February 19, 1964 - January 16, 2022

    Mari Doreen Conklin, 57, of Allison, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Allison Amvet Hall, 718 9th Street, Allison, Iowa 50602. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Mari was born February 19, 1964, in Waverly, to Pete and Esther (Brocka) Boomgarden. She graduated from Allison-Bristow High School. Mari dated Stan Harms of Allison and he was a significant part of her life. She worked at United Equipment Accessories in Waverly. In her younger years, Mari enjoyed crocheting. She also enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Mari was an exceptional cook and enjoyed smoking and grilling food. Her greatest joy was being a grandma and she adored her one and only grandson. Mari was an organ donor, and through donation, she was able to help a great number of people. Mari would have been so proud of this. Mari is survived by her daughter Shelbi Boomgarden-Willoughby of Allison; grandson DeShaun Harrison Smith of Allison; life partner Stan Harms of Allison and his children; siblings Bob (Betty) Boomgarden of Cedar Falls, RaeAnn (Bill) Codner of Allison, David Boomgarden of Haxton, Colorado; “father” Delbert Harms of Clarksville; “son” Josh Rogers of Allison; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jeff Boomgarden and many aunts and uncles. Memorials may be directed to Mari’s family and sent to 203 5th Street, Allison, Iowa 50602.
