    Marvin George Schroeder

    December 29, 1925 - March 7, 2012

    Marvin George Schroeder, age 86, died Wednesday March 7, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center in Wisconsin Rapids. He was the son of Fred and Clara (Happel) Schroeder. He had one older sister, Margaret Grein. He married on May 19, 1956 in Waterloo, IA to Elaine Grace Weber. He moved with his family to a dairy farm near Latimer, Iowa. Marvin attended and graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran School in Latimer, IA. As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball. He served our country as a Marine in the Korean Conflict. He later took over the family farm upgrading from Milking Shorthorn to Registered Holsteins. Marvin was a good business man and over the years he received awards for conservation work done on the farm. He was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer, IA. Upon retirement he and his wife Elaine enjoyed many winters in Arizona in the Apache Junction/Mesa area. Eventually they resided in Hampton, IA and there attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. Marvin was an avid sport fan watching baseball, basketball and football on television. He is survived in death by two children, Paula Graves and Laurie Dinkel with their husbands Tom Graves and Gary Dinkel, five grandchildren- Kristy, Rebecca, and John Graves, Jacob and Jennifer Dinkel. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, sister Margaret Grein. Burial at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Latimer. Burial at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Latimer.
