    Mildred Faye Van Hove

    October 18, 1923 - January 3, 2011

    Mildred Faye Van Hove, 87, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away January 3, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. She was born October 18, 1923, in Austinville, Iowa, to Ollie and Mary Huisman Janssen. Mildred graduated from Aplington High School and earned her teaching certificate from State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and taught school for one year. She was married to Henry E. Stubbe on June 2, 1944. Mildred helped her husband on the farm, west of Ackley; he preceded her in death. She then married Ben Van Hove on February 6, 1971. Mildred was a member of the Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield; served as chair of the Franklin County Democrats and was also very involved in Franklin County 4-H serving as a 4-H leader and working the food stand at the Franklin County Fair for many years. She survived by her husband Ben Van Hove of Sheffield, children Meredith Stubbe of Des Moines, Virginia (Perry) Baker of West Des Moines, Robert (Colette) Stubbe of Ackley, step-daughter Joyce (R. Jay) Ennis of Mason City, step-son James (Bonniesue) Van Hove of Ackley; grandchildren Christine (Andy) Hoffman, Jeff (Stacy) Stubbe, Alison (Scott) Kelly, Chad (Michelle) French, Heather (Paul) Barenthin, Nathan Van Hove, Kyle Van Hove and eight great grandchildren, brother Alfred and Kathy Janssen of Waverly, brother Dale and Lynda Janssen of Ackley, sister-in-law Julia Janssen of Ackley, brother-in-law Roy Yorke of Cheney, Washington, plus many loving nieces and nephews especially Hollis and Ardelle Janssen of Ackley and Harlyn and Charlane Janssen of Hampton who helped care for her and visited her often. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Ollie and Mary Janssen, first husband Henry Stubbe, sister Ann Yorke, brother Harley Janssen, infant sisters Norma Jean and Leola, daughter-in-law Mary Lou Stubbe and son-in-law Dick French. Burial will take place in the Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley. Memorial contributions may be given to the Zion Reformed Church.
