    Randal Edward Nelson

    October 4, 1926 - September 1, 2014

    Randal E. Nelson, 87, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton in Hampton, Iowa. He was born on October 4, 1926, in Dows, Iowa, to Edward and Gladys (State) Nelson. Randal graduated from Dows High School. He served his country in the United States Army. Randal was united in marriage to Julia Kibsgaard on November 16, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton, Iowa. He was a farmer for his entire life and was a Franklin County Supervisor for one term. Randal was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton and was also an active Farm Bureau member. He enjoyed card club, singing in the church choir and attending his grandchildren's school and athletic events. Randal is survived by his daughter, Karen Nelson of Woodburn, Oregon, son, Roger and wife Phyllis Nelson of Ruthven, Iowa, son, Gary and wife Carla Nelson of Sheffield, Iowa, daughter, Nancy Nelson of Orland Hills, Illinois, granddaughter, Dana and husband Wyatt Zoske and their children Isaac, Ryan and Janie Zoske, grandson, Peter and wife Sue Nelson and their children Ava and Kaely Nelson, grandson, Adam and wife Erin Nelson and their children Logan and Leah Nelson, sister, Donnabel Schultz of Simi Valley, California, sister, Linette and husband Larry Bobst of Clarion, Iowa, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gladys, wife, Julia, and brother-in-law, Dwight Schultz. Burial will take place in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Hampton.
