Robert Lewis Wharton

Robert "Bob" Lewis Wharton, 88, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday May 8, 2012, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton, in Hampton, Iowa. He was born January 30, 1924, in rural Wright County, Iowa to Ray Orvis and Ruth Olive (Holmes) Wharton. Bob attended rural Franklin County Country Schools and graduated from the Rowan High School in 1941. He married Beulah Mae Trindle on May 28, 1950, near Dumont, Iowa. Bob was a life long farmer. He was an active member of the Church of Christ in Hampton where he was a past board member; he was also active in the Iowa State University Campus Christian Fellowship. Bob was a Gideon member and Farm Bureau member. Bob was a very nurturing person at heart. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. While working with his children on the farm, Bob would motivate and entertain them with his rhyming abilities. He is survived by his wife Beulah of Latimer, daughter Patricia Jo (Russell) Green of Grayslake, Illinois, daughter Marilyn Kay Wharton of Hampton, son Alan (Linda) Wharton of Latimer, grandchildren Michael Lee Green, Matthew Jay (Angela) Wharton and Luke Alan (SheRee) Wharton, great grandchildren Jacob, Belle, Kali and Hannah Wharton, sister Marjory Wheeler of Morris, Minnesota, Jean Markham of Jersey City, Illinois, sister Joan (Warren) Andreasen of Algona, brother Ronald Wharton of Hampton. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter Abbie, sister Joyce and brother Roscoe. Burial will take place at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa
