Verald William Fink

Verald William Fink, 81, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away June 28, 2011, at his home in rural Latimer, Iowa. He was born July 21, 1929, in Franklin County, Iowa, to C.W. "Bill" and Elizabeth (Schermer) Fink. Verald was Baptized on August 24, 1929 and Confirmed on April 19, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. He graduated from the Franklin Consolidated High School in 1949. Verald was united in marriage to Eleanor Haller on November 16, 1952, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer, Iowa. He was in the Iowa National Guard for eight years and was a grain and livestock farmer until he retired in 2000. Verald enjoyed family and church activities and farming. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren's visits to the farm. Verald kept up with current events and political news. He enjoyed music, especially Christian Hymns. Verald is survived by his wife Eleanor Fink of Latimer, daughter Janice (Glen) Strehlow of Wausau, Wisconsin, daughter Joyce Fink of Ames, daughter Judy (Randy) Hansen of Ames, son Ron (Tammy) Fink of Latimer, grandchildren Tami (Richard) Gatinel of Los Angeles, California, Rachael Krabbe of Mosinee, Wisconsin, Ryan Hansen of Ames, Erin Hansen of Ames, Lorianne Hansen of Ames, Mariah Hansen of Ames, Nichole Schwarten (Josh) of Taylors Falls, Minnesota, Brett Rasmussen of Latimer, Amy Koehler (Josh) of Latimer and Megan Rasmussen of Coulter, great grandchildren Gavin Krabbe of Mosinee, Wisconsin, Luca Gatinel of Los Angeles, Kaylee Schwarten of Taylors Falls, Minnesota, Brylee Koehler of Latimer and Brody Rasmussen of Coulter, sisters Elwilda (Carroll) Etchen of Clear Lake and Arnelda (Win) Schramm of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marvin. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
